If you have an upcoming appointment for a weight loss injection, there are several steps you can take to prepare yourself:

  1. Research the medication: Learn as much as you can about the weight loss injection that you will be receiving. This includes the medication’s potential benefits, side effects, and any precautions or restrictions that you should be aware of.
  2. Follow our instructions: Our team will give you specific instructions to follow before and after the injection. Be sure to follow these instructions closely to ensure the best possible outcome.
  3. Prepare for potential side effects: Weight loss injections can cause side effects, such as nausea, headache, and diarrhea. To minimize these side effects, be sure to stay hydrated and eat a balanced diet.
  4. Keep track of your progress: Before your appointment, consider taking measurements of your weight, body mass index (BMI), and waist circumference. This can help you track your progress and determine if the weight loss injection is working for you.
  5. Bring a list of questions: Write down any questions or concerns you have about the weight loss injection and bring them with you to your appointment. This will help you get the information you need and make the most of your time.

The question of, “What are weight loss injections?” is one that we receive quite often. Weight loss injections, commonly referred to as Semaglutide injections are a type of medication that are used to treat type 2 diabetes and, more recently, to aid in weight loss. Semaglutide is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist, which means that it works by stimulating the GLP-1 receptor in the body, resulting in increased insulin production and decreased glucose production.   For diabetes treatment, semaglutide is typically injected once a week whereas for weight loss, semaglutide is injected once a week as well, but at a higher dose than for diabetes treatment.   Semaglutide injections are administered subcutaneously (under the skin), typically in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. The injection can be self-administered by the patient or given by a healthcare provider.

Semaglutide is a medication that has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for weight loss in people who are overweight or obese. It is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist that works by decreasing appetite and promoting feelings of fullness.

In clinical trials, participants who took semaglutide as part of a weight loss program lost an average of 15-20% of their body weight over the course of 6-8 weeks. However, individual results may vary, and weight loss may occur at different rates for different people.

Yes, it is possible to regain weight after using weightloss injections. The medication can help with weight loss, but it is not a permanent solution. Once the medication is stopped, it is important to continue with healthy eating habits and regular exercise in order to maintain weight loss.

In clinical trials, participants who stopped taking injections after 68 weeks regained some of the weight they had lost, but still maintained a significant amount of weight loss compared to those who received a placebo. This underscores the importance of continuing with healthy lifestyle habits after stopping injections.
The long-term safety and efficacy of injections for weight loss are still being studied, as it is a relatively new medication for this purpose, therefore, the long-term effects of using injections for weight loss beyond this timeframe are not yet known.
Yes, it is still important to follow a healthy diet and exercise regimen while using injections for weight loss. Injections are not a magic solution for weight loss, and while they can help reduce appetite and promote feelings of fullness, they are most effective when used in conjunction with healthy lifestyle habits.
The benefits of weight loss injections can vary and also be dependent on the individual using it. However, here are some general benefits that weight loss injections may offer:

  1. Reduced appetite: Some weight loss injections can help reduce appetite, which may lead to decreased caloric intake and weight loss.
  2. Increased metabolism: Certain weight loss injections may increase metabolism, which can help the body burn more calories and aid in weight loss.
  3. Improved body composition: Weight loss injections that help break down fat and build lean muscle may result in improved body composition, with less body fat and more muscle mass.
  4. Health improvements: Losing weight through injections may help improve a number of health conditions, such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol.
  5. Increased confidence: Achieving weight loss goals can lead to increased confidence and self-esteem, which can have positive effects on overall well-being.
